Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike

8th-level Evocation
Casting time:	1 action
Range:	Self (30ft radius)
Components:	S, M (heart of a dragon)
Duration:	Instantaneous

Summons a red bolt of lightning that scatters and spreads around the surrounding area. Each creature you choose within 30ft of you must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 12d8 lightning damage. A creature that succeeds on its saving throw takes half as much damage.

As part of casting this spell, you can also use your bonus action to charge the spell. When you do so, the damage dice become d10's and the radius increases by 10ft.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, the damage increases by 1d8 or 1d10 if charged.
