Welcome to D&D Wiki!

Welcome!

Hello Me0wFish, and welcome to D&D Wiki! I hope you are enjoying D&D Wiki and have been finding the information here useful. Before you start contributing, we recommend you make sure your user preferences match your preferences.

Questions

If you have any questions about a specific page please ask it on that page's talk page. If you have a D&D-related question, you can ask it on DnD Discussions. Everything relating to D&D Wiki's administration can be asked here. If you need to contact another user, please use their talk page.

Formatting

Syntax can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Help:Portal also provides detailed explanation of information important specifically to this community.

Community

A strong and welcoming community exists on D&D Wiki, and I'm sure you will find us friendly. To enable the community to function, a number of policies are in effect. Most importantly, we follow and expect you to follow Wikipedia's guidelines on civility and etiquette when discussing anything. As most work has multiple authors, please do not delete content without following our removal process. When posting a comment on a talk page, please ensure you sign your name with four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the signature icon (Signature icon.png). This will automatically produce your name and the date. I hope you come to enjoy D&D Wiki and the community. Welcome again, you are now a D&D Wikian. — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 21:28, 8 August 2019 (MDT)

Hi!

As above, welcome to D&D Wiki! I'm an admin and active user here. If you need anything, you can leave a message on my talk page. You can also contact another admin on their talk page or somebody on our Helper list. You may have to wait a day or so for a reply, but we're a friendly bunch, so don't feel shy if you're unsure about something. We also have a community Discord server where you can chat with other D&D Wikians about roleplaying games or other topics. We look forward to any contributions you have! — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 21:28, 8 August 2019 (MDT)

Mythic

Lord Chaos, Nihilator, and I think the Lich King are all Mythic Creatures, but I don’t know how to get the template on the creature info showing it. Could you give me a link or something that I put at top or something? Thanks!!

Aren't Lord Chaos, Nihilator, and the Lich King alternate names for Voldemort? --Redrum 17:28, 14 August 2019 (MDT)

Vermund

I have a new creature!! The dragon Vermund, who resides in his own demiplane. Could you please attach the Mythic Creature template to it? Thanks, Geodude!!

"Do not edit" disclaimer

Please do not put a "do not edit" disclaimer on pages, like you did on Skelmir (5e Creature). This is a wiki and you need to be prepared for other people editing the pages you create. If you really don't want other people editing "your" page, you can move it into your userspace, where other users are not allowed to edit, as I did with the other creatures you made. — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 10:14, 10 August 2019 (MDT)

Then why did you block me when I edited something? — Me0wFish (talk) 14:54, 10 August 2019 (MDT) Me0wFish
I don't understand. When were you blocked? — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 15:00, 10 August 2019 (MDT)
Oh, I see now. Using CheckUser I see that I previously blocked you for the edits made to Beholderborn (5e Race), as an IP. I blocked you not for the mere act of editing "someone else's" page, but because of the content of those edits. You continually increased the power level of that race that I did not believe was beneficial, and another admin agreed with me. If you think that that block was unfair, then I apologize, but I hope this at least helps you understand my point of view. — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 15:07, 10 August 2019 (MDT)
It does help, thanks. — Me0wFish (talk) 12:25, 11 August 2019 (MDT) Me0wFish

Real Life Pokémon

Your user name makes me think your are a Pokémon (or a Pokémon fan). You ARE allowed to tell me to get lost. --Redrum 13:37, 10 August 2019 (MDT)

I used to be into Pokémon, but I used to. I don’t remember how I came up with this name, but I did not base the name off of Pokémon.

Problematic edits

Hello, fellow wiki user. It's come to my attention that you seem to have a habit of buffing pages more and more, until they become horrendously overpowered, relentlessly broken, and utterly unusable in any standard campaign. Please remember that this is a community wiki, and all pages are meant to be both balanced and usable by anyone who wishes to do so. Overpowered classes, feats, creatures, and spells are frowned upon, as they break the inherent balance D&D is meant to have. If someone made a cantrip that was essentially Fireball, no sane DM would ever allow it at their table. If one were to create a CR 45 creature, it would never once see the light of day outside of Epic level campaigns, which are precious few and far between.
Here on the D&D Wiki, we strive to create fun, unique, wholesome, and above all, balanced homebrew, so that players and DMs all across the world can find and use it without needing to worry about breaking the game or overshadowing their fellow players. Please keep this in mind as you continue to use the D&D Wiki. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 18:19, 14 November 2020 (MST)

Hey there, I want to reiterate what Nuke said above. We have a general consensus that we should be enforcing balance, as that helps make a piece of content fun for everyone at the table, not just the one person using it. Let me know if you need help understanding balance. — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 23:23, 26 December 2020 (MST)
In addition, such creations tend to give the Wiki a bad name. I, myself, am all for you making crazy power trip stuff, so long as it's kept to your userpage
Peace!
