There were once three nameless beasts residing in the Johto regions famous Brass Tower. They were friendly with the humans who went in and out of the place. Tourists would leave them food and pet them. One day, lightning struck the tower several times over, setting it ablaze. No one thought of the three residing in the tower. The humans only cared to get themselves to safety. In the inferno, the three creatures were left to their own devices. Trapped, they perished. A calming rain came to extinguish the fires before it wholly claimed their corpses. A brilliant rainbow formed in the aftermath and the magnificent bird of life, Ho-Oh descended on the charred remains of the tower. With its miraculous power of life, it revived the three beasts and gave them powers anew. The beasts came to be named Entei, Raikou and Suicune. They swore their fealty to Ho-Oh and turned their backs on humans. Now they roam the lands...

Entei

Entei is a massive, leonine quadruped with some mastiff qualities, namely thick legs and shaggy fur. It is covered in brown fur and a long, light gray cloud of smoke for a mane running along its entire back. It has gray plates on either side of the mane and a plate beneath the cream belly fur on its chest, resembling armor under the fur. Entei has gray paws with brown pads and black cuff-like metal bands on its legs. Its main faceplate is red and shaped like fins or a six-sided star. A gray plate, resembling a horseshoe mustache, covers its muzzle. It also has a yellow crest with three sloped points on its forehead and red eyes. This makes it resemble some kind of mask.

Entei represents the ravaging fire which burned the tower. It is said to create volcanos solely from its roars. The cloud of smoke on its back is volcanic ash, which it spreads as it races across grasslands, sometimes causing wildfires. However, this ash also fertilizes the grounds and makes for life anew in the burned grounds. When not roaming, Entei is sometimes seen around volcanoes and as a blur across burning plains.

Raikou

Raikou is a quadruped, yellow, tigrine Pokémon with black stripes and a white underside, all covered in a thin pelt of short hair fur. It has a thin, light stream of electricity for a tail, ending in an unstable spark. Most of its face consists of thick, white fur and shorter yellow fur around its red eyes. Raikou's muzzle is a light blue "X" and it has a black faceplate with two bumps that cover its forehead, nose, and ears. Raikou has two long fangs that make its appearance similar to the saber-toothed cat. Its large claws each converge to form a single point and never retract. Extra fur hangs off its body in front of its thighs. It carries a thick purple mane on its back said to be storm clouds.

The lightning which strikes first and devastates is the element Raikou embodies. The clouds upon its back generate volts like a real storm, allowing it to discharge lightning bolts. Raikou is said to cause thunder from its roars. It usually roams and races about in plains where storm clouds often will gather overhead. A single bolt can set the whole plain afire. Raikou is as wary of humans as Entei, and the two do not appear unless it is an individual which has earned their utmost trust.

Suicune

Suicune is a slim, quadruped, blue, mammalian Pokémon with white, diamond-shaped markings along the sides of its body. Its face and underside are white as well. Suicune has a thick, purple mane that shimmers as it moves, resembling the aurora borealis and two white, streamer-like tails that wave forward, representing milky streaks of astral matter. It has a long, white snout. Suicune has a large, hexagonal, cerulean blue crest on its forehead that resembles antlers with two prongs on either side of the base. It has red eyes, a small tuft of fur under its chin, and small paws with white paw pads.

The calmest of the three, Suicune is the supposed embodiment of the North Wind. It races north always, eventually circling the world, running as fast as the wind itself. Its trajectory always follows the path of rivers, lakes, and ponds. Suicune is considered the most benevolent of the legendary beasts, as it purifies the dirty water it comes upon. It also has been recorded to have human interaction that was amicable. Suicune is willing to appear to humans, making it a target for greedy collectors or showmen. People believe Suicune to be the calming rain which put out the fires the day the Brass Tower burned.

Worship

The three beasts resemble their Kanto counterparts, the birds, in regards to their public reception. They are not exactly revered as deities, though there are statues of Suicune in some cities. Entei and Raikou in particular are just natural menaces. Suicune is looked upon more favorably. Unlike the three birds however, the three beasts share some connection with Ho-Oh, who is quite the favorite god in the Johto. Given their incredible powers of nature, they are often targeted by evil organizations looking to use them for nefarious purposes. This cements the beasts into their thoughts that humans cannot be trusted.
