Artifacts (Kingdom Hearts)[edit]

Keychains[edit]

Keyblade wielders can infuse their Keyblades with rare artifacts known as keychains. The form of their Keyblades change depending on the keychain attached, and gain certain powers. To attach a keychain to a Keyblade requires a one hour ritual to be preformed that fuses the keychain into the Keyblade. Each Keyblade can only have 1 Keychain attached to it at a time. Attempting to attach a second keychain will force the first Keychain out. Keychains can also be improved, their weakest state being their base and improving overtime, either through an event (DM's Discretion) or through the wielder building them themselves through synthesis. While the Keychain is attached to your Keyblade, the Keyblade changes form and gains new features based on the rank and variety of said Keychain.

Keychains come in the following ranks:

Most Keychains will have a Keyblade Ability attached to them. Click Here for a list of Abilities Additionally, Keychains come in one of three categories: Warrior, which focuses on offense. Guardian, which focuses on defense. Mystic, which focuses on magic. Any Keyblade class can attach any of these Keychains regardless of category.

Optional Variant Rule: When a Keychain is attached to a Keyblade, the wielder can choose one path for that Keychain. The feature to gain a +1 through +5 bonus to something, changes depending on the choice.

  • Warrior Path: Attack and Damage roles.
  • Guardian: AC and Defense.
  • Mystic: Spell Attacks and Spell Save DC.


Disclaimer: While each Keychain has a "Masterful" and "Grand" rank attached, these two specific ranks are meant for Level 21 and above. It is not recommended to give a player that is level 20 or under, any keychain with a rank higher than Supreme.

Ultima (Legendary)[edit]

While attuned to the attached Keyblade, you gain 3 additional abilities, these does not count against the abilities known. Additionally, the attached Keyblade counts as an adamantine weapon and inflicts an additional 3d6 damage on a hit and has a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls.

Ultima Optional Rule[edit]

While this is the base effect of Ultima, it need not be the end all be all. In fact some say it works somewhat differently based on it's wielder. At your DM's discretion, your version of Ultima may be altered or entirely different altogether. Talk with your DM about what would work best for your character's version of Ultima.
