Zero Dawn Machine[edit]

When GAIA was tasked with reestablishing life on Earth, she had HEPHAESTUS create dozens, or even hundreds of types of machines to assist in the terraforming process. The machines your players encounter can and should be different than the ones found in the Horizon games. Consider why this machine was made: to kill humans? To recover parts from destroyed machines? To repair damaged machines? To gather natural resources necessary to build more? Everything about the machine will depend on its purpose.

Prerequisite

Any beast, dragon, or plant.

Statistics[edit]

Type. The machine's type is changed to construct.

AC. The machine's armor class increases by at least 2, depending on how tough you want it to be.

Abilities. The machine's Intelligence is 9 and its Charisma is 3.

Damage Vulnerabilities. The machine could be weak to a certain type of damage, or could not. Your choice.

Damage Immunities. The machine is immune to psychic damage.

Damage Resistances. The machine could resist a certain type of damage, or could not. Your choice.

Condition Immunities. The machine cannot be frightened or poisoned and is immune to exhaustion.

Languages The machine can only communicate via howls, clicks, or some other sound with other machines.

Alignment The machine is unaligned.

Example Traits[edit]

Anything. Add whatever you want. Give it a cannon that does 3d8 damage on a failed Dexterity save, or a disorienting blast with recharge 5-6. Make it alter gravity or turn completely invisible. Do anything that would be reasonable with the given technology, which is a lot.

Cloaking. The machine can spend 5 feet of movement to turn almost entirely invisible, forcing any creature who would attempt to spot it to make a DC 8 + Dexterity modifier + proficiency bonus Investigation check.

Radar. The machine can sense the presence of any creatures within 30 ft. of it unless they are hidden by magical means.

Spellcasting[edit]

All spells the machine could cast are now turned into similar but tech-based abilities.

CR Calculation[edit]

Consider how powerful the traits you gave the machine were, what resistance or vulnerabilities you gave it, and by how much you increased the AC.
