Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement by a bard)

The instrument is decorated in a coat of bright, vibrant red with white stripes. The paint is largely unaffected by nonmagical age, wear, tear, and the passage of time. An unfamiliar word "Crypton" is etched into the surface. While played, the sounds of other instruments originate from White Stripes, as though it carries its own band. Nobody knows where this instrument truly originated from or who created it, but it's here now.

When used as an improvised weapon, targets take 1d6 extra thunder damage on a hit.

Battle of the Bands. As an action, you can choose to begin playing the instrument. You must make a DC 15 Charisma (Performance) check, and on a success, you may choose one of the following effects:

  • Help
    • Classical While playing, you can use your reaction to allow any one ally within 50 feet to reroll an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. The target must use the new roll.
    • Folk While playing, you restore 1d6 hit points to creatures in a 50-foot-radius sphere.
    • March While playing, you grant allies in a 50-foot-radius sphere a +2 bonus to their initiative, and +5 bonus to their speed.
    • Inspirational While playing, you grant allies in a 30-foot-radius sphere an inspiration die. You can play this song up to 3 times. You regain any expended uses on when you finish a long rest.
    • Country While you play this song continuously, the minimum length of a short rest for the allies in a 5-foot-radius sphere, including yourself, is 10 minutes.
  • Hurt
    • Vocal While you are singing, enemies in a 50-foot-radius sphere must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be charmed for as long as you continue to sing. At the end of each of their turns, the targets can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, targets becomes immune to this song for 24 hours.
    • Blues While you are playing, enemies in a 50-foot-radius sphere must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or be stunned for as long as you continue to play. At the end of each of their turns, the targets can make another Constitution saving throw. On a success, targets becomes immune to this song for 24 hours.
    • Rock and Roll While you are playing, enemies in a 50-foot-radius sphere suffer a -2 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
    • Metal You use your action to deal 2d12 thunder damage to enemies within a 50-foot cone.
