The Polycute phenotype of the Veruns species have carved out their existence in the underworks of Mechabutzia. Veruns possess an amphibious form, their bodies covered in a slimy, iridescent skin that glimmers under the faint glow of Phthuff lighting. Their bodies are sleek and agile, allowing them to skulk through the shadows, lie in wait, and strike with devastating precision. They move with an uncanny grace, both on land and in the viscous, liquid-like gases that fill the voids of Mechabutzia. Veruns have a unique adaptation, a specialized organ that enables them to shoot water with considerable force. In the complex machinery of Mechabutzia, they use this ability to interact with their environment in unexpected ways. They have been observed shooting water into sliate tanks, containers made of impossible materials and filled with swirling, dancing vapors. The purpose of this action remains a mystery, as does much of Verun behavior. Their large, bulbous eyes are well-suited to the dimly lit environment, giving them an advantage over other creatures in the underworks. When they gather in groups, their collective glow creates an eerie spectacle, a dance of shadows and light in the depths of Mechabutzia. |
