Syntax can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). Help:Portal also provides detailed explanation of information important specifically to this community.

Behavioral Policy[edit]
Disclaimer: I have no vested interest or stake in the Pictsie race. I know nothing of its balance or lack thereof, and am not taking any side on whose interpretation I prefer.
Hello, this is not an official warning, but I would ask you to please improve your behavior when interacting with other users. Firstly, though Geodude671 is not a moderator (I, for the record, am :) ), please do not use that as an excuse to (do what I perceived as trying to) belittle his opinion. Though I've known him to be somewhat strong-headed, many here have come to respect him and the help he attempts to provide, and I do not believe that he attempts to be an authority. He simply stated his opinion on the race's problems and the reasons why he thought they were problematic.
That leads me to the second reason I'm here, being your either misunderstanding or blatant misuse of the behavioral policy. You claimed that Geodude671 did not "stay away from generalizations and vague comments" or "spotlight specific text and give specific reasoning." With perhaps one or two exceptions (we're only human, after all!), I found that not to be the case :) Normally I could see this as a simple misunderstanding, us all being open to interpretation of words and how we process them, but you then proceeded to provide a proper reply to each of his points. This indicates to me (and I may be wrong here) that you understood his comments well enough, and therefore you prove that his "generalizations and vague comments" did "spotlight specific text and give specific reasoning" sufficient for you to give a sufficient rebuttal :)
In conclusion, welcome to D&D Wiki, and please try to be nice and understand that we're all just trying to help each other :) And don't misappropriate the behavioral policy. After all, you are not a moderator ;) --GamerAim (talk) 20:40, 18 October 2017 (MDT)
- Geodude671 initially put no indications of what needed to be changed, or what was wrong, only that there were "non-5e-isms" and "general clean-up" was needed. I made an attempt to clean up the file, as seen in the history, but without any details there was no way for me to know to what he referred. After cleaning up, I erased the critique flags. He then proceeded to reinstate the flags, again with no explanation. Upon deleting them the second time, he made the flag that it needed to be examined by an admin because of erasing flags without addressing the problem. At that point I added the discussion to try and address the balance issue and had to solicit him for input. That is not clear communication on his part, and his behavior indicates that I was supposed to intuit what he found wrong.
- It's easy enough to see I'm new to the community. A helpful hand in formatting or things to review would have been great. But I was greeted with "Wrong, change it" without any details. Twice. THAT is acting like he's an authority whom I should just obey. I've dealt with enough abusers (timely enough, including Harvey Weinstein's office) to know that kind of behavior when I see it. When he finally did reply, I was greeted with "That's, uh, 'okay', I guess." That tone, at the very least, is snotty. Yet I am the one being cautioned for behaving inappropriately. This has been a very disappointing experience with your community.Scrmnviking (talk) 11:22, 19 October 2017 (MDT)
