- Formatting
Syntax can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Help:Portal also provides detailed explanation of information important specifically to this community.

Lati[edit]
So, I have a note about your Lati race. Normally you need a Mega Stone to mega evolve a Pokémon but yours sounds like it can just do it at will. I don't know, that just sounds a little... odd to me. Was that by design or...? --Flamestarter (talk) 14:10, 25 January 2020 (MST)
- It's intended to be like a special ability which could only be used once a day, so it's by design. Latius (talk) 07:45, 26 January 2020 (MST)

- And I've been civil as much as I can, but there are limits. And what you did to this page broke one. Aurora 'Latius' Lucias (talk) 23:41, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
Pro Tip[edit]
Hi Latrius, it's vladulenta. The guy who crawls the recent changes page at the same hours as you do. I'm happy there's someone else willing to look through and put in the work on fixing all the badly-formatted, unbalanced, horribly-flavored and google translated garbage chute of content that pours onto this site every hour of the day. Just wanted to leave a post here to give you a little tip in dealing with others on dandwiki.
Often we talk with users, especially new users. And without trying to sound malicious or patronizing, we come off like that. Because nine in ten times we’re correcting someone on inane details when they just want to post their cool ideas online.
So when writing anything to someone it’s helpful to sure to include your reason for writing first. Then properly identify who you are talking to by username or title (e.g. ‟To this page’s creator…”) before referring to them as ‟you”. Otherwise you risk coming off as too brash or even as accusatory in your writing.
You don’t know how what you write will be read, so think of it like writing a letter and set the tone first to make sure your words aren’t taken the wrong way. Most of us just want to make sure users’ cool ideas align with the game and wiki’s standards of balance, formatting, etc., etc., and all the other standards, we’re not here to grade others on their CSS knowledge, but it takes care to not come off like that.
I’m not an admin, just a guy. My advice might be wash and stupid. You can blank this if you want, it’s your right to do it and you’re not breaking any rules regardless. You’re already putting in more effort than most to try and talk to users before editing, so it's in your best interest to make sure you are being constructive and approachable in your communication. You're already being extremely helpful, but it is possible that being friendlier too might lead to more new users rectifying their mistakes and less new users trying to blank your talk page. Hope this finds you well.
P.S. Man this is much longer than I thought, sorry G. --vladulenta (talk) 17:26, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
