Welcome to D&D Wiki![edit]

Welcome!

Hello Dracomortis, and welcome to D&D Wiki. I hope you have been enjoying this site, and I hope you have been finding the information here on D&D Wiki useful. I am an admin (and, actually, the owner as well) here on D&D Wiki along with a couple other people who make up "The Face" of D&D Wiki. Everything relating to admins can be found here.

Questions

If you have any question about D&D Wiki, D&D, formatting on D&D Wiki, what day today is, or whatever, an admin will, many times, give a good answer. Please feel free to ask any admin any question (ask me a question!).

Formatting

Formatting on D&D Wiki (or any wiki for that matter) can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain the basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Again, if you have any questions about formatting on D&D Wiki please ask them as, I imagine, anybody will be more than happy to help you get them answered.

Community

A strong and welcoming community exists on D&D Wiki, and I am sure you will find it rather nice. Most discussions take place on content talk pages, however please feel free to walk into The Tavern (our local chat room) and talk to some fellow D&D Wikians. Anyway, on D&D Wiki, possibly since discussions are never deleted, people try to be nice. This means please follow Wikipedia's guidelines on Civility and Etiquette when discussing anything. And, if an argument does arise, please use Wikipedia's Dispute Resolution to make sure everyone comes out happy. Also, on a pretty different note, to ensure people know who posted what, please sign your name after a post with four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the signature icon. Signature icon.png This will automatically produce your name and the date. Anyway, I hope you come to love the close-knit D&D Wiki community and welcome again, you are now a D&D Wikian. --Green Dragon 06:21, 20 February 2009 (MST)

Derro and Duergar[edit]

Great job on both of these. Now we just need some race specific Feats. Keep up the good work. -- Sepsis 16:54, 11 February 2009 (MST)

Love the Feats. While none of my Players are interested in running either of these races I plan on creating a few NPC baddies from these. Thanks for your work, great stuff. -- Sepsis 19:57, 11 February 2009 (MST)
My last request...well maybe...I know that Duergar will most likely end up in the MM2, but I was wondering if you had any plans to do monster stats for both them and the Derro? If not I understand, I was just thinking it would work well to be able to have generic stats for them as well as these PC/NPC stats. Any way just a thought. Thanks for your time. -- Sepsis 18:13, 13 February 2009 (MST)
I noticed you have started creating the Derro Vocalist. I was wondering if you plan on creating more types you might want to just create a Derro entry and place the various types under that. -- Sepsis 22:34, 14 February 2009 (MST)
Yeah, the standard format for Monsters (as per the MM) puts the various levels/roles of a monster on one page. -- Sepsis 10:23, 15 February 2009 (MST)
I know that some of the races that live in the underdark are weak against the light of the sun should they be topside durring the day, also that duergar are closely connected to devils. i was thinking that a weakness to radiant and a resistance to necrotic would be fitting additions. just a thought. take it or leave it. all i know is that this is the most acurate workup for a duergar and that it kicks the hell out of the MM2 version. -- Guest
Thanks for the praise. I like your idea for a weakness to powers with the radiant keyword, but I'll have to think of some minor bonus to give them in exchange. Official 4e design policy seems to be that races only get beneficial traits; I'm not entirely opposed to doing things that Wizards of the Coast doesn't, but I would like to make sure that if I do it, I do it right. As for resistance to necrotic damage, I don't think that fits quite as well. The connection between duergar and devils only exists in 4th edition (the 4e duergar are more like the 3.5 durzagon, which were half-duergar and half-bearded devil), while my race is meant to be a conversion of the 3.5 duergar, which were simply evil dwarves that could alter their size. I may do a write-up of the 4e duergar someday though, so I'll keep your suggestion in mind if I find they need some type of damage resistance. -- Dracomortis 16:28, 3 September 2009 (MDT)

Corrupted Human Bandit[edit]

I've noticed that you've been working on the Corrupted Human Bandit (4e Creature) page since the deletion template was added. Would you like to adopt this page and finish it? Surgo 18:15, 21 April 2009 (MDT)

I didn't realize there was any sort of formal procedure to adopting a page, but I would gladly adopt it and finish it up. -- Dracomortis 11:45, 22 April 2009 (MDT)

Creatures[edit]

I just wanted to say you've got a lot of great creatures made up. Do you have a particular fondness for them? Either way, great work on them in both editions.   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   21:16, 26 August 2009 (MDT)

Yeah, monsters (and, to a lesser extent, races) have always been the most interesting part of the game for me, and I enjoy creating game material that other people will potentially use and enjoy. Anyway, I'm glad you like them, and I hope to continue contributing more beasties in the future. -- Dracomortis 22:22, 26 August 2009 (MDT)

WotC Forums[edit]

I saw on the UA talk page that you are active on the WotC forums. I also understand that Wrecan is a community leader over there. I was wondering if you guys (I'll MOI wrecan) think that a Userpage template that says basically "this user is a member of the WotC forums, and you can find them here" where "here" could be made to link to each individual user's WotC forum profile would be beneficial or not? Or if you like the idea but have a better way of putting it.   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   13:58, 5 September 2009 (MDT)

Actually, I think that something like this could be incredibly useful for all users who also use the Wizards of the Coast forums. It would give them an alternative means to contact those users who had the template on their User Page. This could be particularly helpful if the user in question isn't comfortable using Wikicode (and might therefore have difficulty communicating via the User Talk page) or if for whatever reason they want to privately contact the individual (which, as far as I know, is not possible on a Wiki). I would, of course, suggest that the template be optional, as I can imagine there are some users who might want to keep their profiles separate from one another, but I would definitely use something like this if it gets implemented. -- Dracomortis 15:06, 5 September 2009 (MDT)
Kind of my thoughts, and I'd like to hear more input. In the meantime I'll try to sandbox up a template that could do the trick.   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   17:13, 5 September 2009 (MDT)
I MOId you, but just to follow up I got a version up - feel free to improve it if you have any ideas. It is at Template:WotCForums and the coding for usage is {{Template:WotCForums|<!--- wizards' username -->}}. Cheers! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hooper (talkcontribs) 16:38, 5 September 2009 (MDT). Please sign your posts.
