About Goat[edit]
I'm "a forever DM", I've always tried to introduce the game for my friends, and so far, some of them have really enjoyed. My favorite part of the game is rolling up characters and developing their background alongside with their skills [Probably a good trait for a DM]. My least favorite part is balancing, and distributing magical items [I really get nervous of making the party too powerful for low lv mobs, but Tpk'able for higher tier ones].
Experience[edit]
My experiences narrating is a one-shot with some personal friends, Another one-shot, and now I'm narrating a whole campaing. My main goal in the game is for everyone to have fun, even at the expense of the story, however as many of you know, DM'ming is complicated, people not always have the same goals in mind, and their requisite of "fun" is different from everybody else, and I for one can appreciate that, and try my best to make an enviroment that everyone can, have their fair share of fun.
The little experience I had as a player was with a "Self made System", on which the DM was harsh, unforgiving and honestly, Wanted us dead every step of the way, (pretty fun). However he did taught me how to punish players that don't work together, players that didn't played attention, and if you made a mistake that would get you killed, well it would be a learning experience.
The system[edit]
I've took that D&D 5e, gives you a good way to introduce player without sacrificing freedom, and in my opinion it has become mainstream for a reason. It is pretty easy to understand, to go back and check; And last but not least to modify. I've tended to make the game a little more forgiving for the newcomers by allowing them some leniency for such things as: attacking with two weapons, or being allowed to pick rogue as a playable class. [a joke, please don't chase me with a pitchfork.] For now, their fun is my main concern, and seeing as they always come back for more, I'm happy.
ps: That doesn't mean i let them win, every combat is tense, and every mistake was punished accordingly.
My objective[edit]
I've seen this wiki, with tons of things *I wouldn't agree* having on *My* table, however I've seen many more that I would gladly add. With this in mind, my goal in the wiki is to bring things that are not a necessity, but more of a What if, Such as :what fruits do people eat in this world ? Why would they eat it ?, Where do people live ?, What skill check would I use for drawing a map ? Can i have a pet Werewolf ? [All questions i have received].
All of this is not included in the PHB, [for obvious reasons] there are too many things to take in consideration, but i hope that i can help you, get an idea of what to do when faced with such adversities. After all, that is what the wiki is here for.
