Ration. Common gear, 0 gp. A ration is an inexpensive meal that travels well. A meal must be consumed to gain the benefits of a rest.
The exact contents of rations vary widely, but common portions include hardtack, jerky, dried fruit, and weak mead. Rations also differ in size, weight, and contents between folk. A Tiny pixie likely only has a few dried berries, while a Large troll might have several pounds of jerky.
During downtime, a protag can stock up on as many rations as their bag can carry. While an expense is presumably involved, it is negligible enough that the player does not need to track the expense. Rations don't last forever; assume during each downtime that a protag replaces any rations that are soon to spoil.
