Plate. Common armor (heavy), 1500 gp. Wearing plate armor gives you an AC of 18, and imposes disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to move quietly. If your Strength score isn't at least 15, your speed is reduced by 10 feet while you wear it. These statistics represent only plate armor you've crafted or bought for yourself, as wearing plate not tailored for you instead acts as half-plate.
Full plate armor consists of steel plates completely encasing the wearer, normally including the head and all extremities. The plates are usually worn over padding which itself sometimes includes portions of chain mail.
Despite the impressive level of protection provided by full plate, it is rarely used due to its expense. Armories meant to equip armies will usually employ chain mail since one size fits most for a similar level of protection at much lower cost.
