Time[edit]

Time is important and how you spend it can have severe consequences. The "Life Simulation" elements of the Persona series rely heavily on what you choose to do with your downtime. Each campaign is unique and you may find a longer or shorter time frame works best for you or your players.

Time of Day[edit]

When managing a Person game keep in might what the daily life of your Players characters looks like. Your player may have certain obligation they can't avoid like work or school. Natural this means they have less time to train their skill or to otherwise prepare for the Other World.

Days should be divided into 3 or 4 time slots usually Morning, Noon, Evening, Night. Each action a player takes occupies a time slot with some activities only optional during certain time slots. A club might be closed in the Morning or Office closed at Night. Consider that NPCs might not be available during certain Days or Times.

Calendar[edit]

Despite the supernatural elements Persona is set in the real world. Use a real world calendar keeping in mind holidays and yearly events (eg. Start of school, Elections, etc). While not all this event are relevant to your game they might be used as plot hooks for you characters or provide extra free time for character to train or stock up on items. Some event or items can also be tied to annual events.

Game Length

Ideally your campaign should take around a year in game to complete. Plan certain confrontations to take place on certain days of the year and emphasize the consequence for not make the deadline (eg A Character will die, a villain will escape.). This is the primary drive for the players to enter the Other World and resolve the conflict in a timely manner.

The Other World

The Other World is influenced by our own. Some times of the year or special events could take place during the year within the Other World (A One Day Christmas Dungeon, A nightmare Theme Halloween Dungeon).

Other World Phases[edit]

Time might not work the same way in the Other World. It is suggested to Disregard time in the Other world allow players to keep going as long as possible with advancing time in the usual world. If this becomes a problem introduce a fatigue mechanic, extended periods in the Other World could have unforeseen effect on their characters.
