More information...

A being said to be born from the minds of deities, the Thousand Face is the combination of horrible emotions that lingers in the minds of all life. Even deities of justice and order has ideas of evil and what they fear will spread without their efforts, and that is what Thousand Face consists Himself.

Because of its nature as the combination of horrid nightmares of creatures, recession of the force of good (which leads to spread of fear, hatred, and other evil) through the Multiverse will easily raise Thousand Face's powers to greater deity, overdeity, or even worse. However, other divine beings have made their effort to prevent spread of the worst evil, thus His power is suppressed at the level of a lesser deity.

Appearance[edit]

Those who have retained sanity from looking at the form of madness of Thousand Face will describe a sloppy aberration of many deformed, sinister-looking faces that smile with its murderous passions. Hidden beneath the many layers of faces, there seemed a body of complete darkness where His true face is thought to be hidden.

Dogma[edit]

There is no dogma, but the actions of those few who follow Thousand Face show what this deity wants.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Only the maddest individuals would even go alongside with this deity, and even then they are most likely confined to prevent following the ways of Thousand Face. Those who manage to become His followers will find themselves in secret underground chambers, a small confined area that they call their temples. From their temples, the clergy of Thousand Face will venture out, killing any living things and destroying any objects.

The way clerics of Thousand Face gains their spell is not like other clerics. While other followers of deities gain their power through response to their worship, the clerics of Thousand Face only "catches" the destructive force of Thousand Face and manipulate it to use as theirs. This still takes the same time other clerics spend to gain their gift of divine spells, and this adds to the reason why followers of Thousand Face are rare. Insane destroyers has no patience to spend time gaining destructive powers from this being. Those who gains power from Thousand Face uses their "unholy symbol", the white mask, to do so.

Other Deities[edit]

Thousand Face does not really make alliances, but He does have many relations with other evil deities. That is, all the effort of evil deities spreading destruction and horror adds power to Thousand Face. And in return, the destructive powers of Thousand Face radiates back to them, making them strive for more evil.

Some say He is somehow related to Tharizdun's avatars. Others say He is a powerful Obyrith that escaped Abyss and made home elsewhere. Whatever He is, it is good to know that He seems to have no means of escaping his home layer of Carceri.

  • The Corruption Domain is included in the Book of Vile Darkness and the Fiendish Codex I.
