The Weapon of Pure War (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon, artifact (requires attunement by a worshipper of Nemesis)
The Weapon of Pure War is a powerful artifact sacred to Nemesis. It can manifest itself as any weapon that has ever been used. This form is chosen by the artifact's wielder, and it can be changed at any time. The one thing that doesn't change about this weapon is that its handle is always made out of bloodstone, and the weapon portion is always made out of platinum. Despite its construction, the Weapon of Pure War is always perfectly balanced. It was created by Nemesis herself for her worshippers, and only her worshippers, to use. The weapon's purpose is to spread violence and war wherever its wielder goes. It does this by making its wielder go insane with the thought of killing someone they know or having to bathe themself in blood to stop the craving.
Random Properties. The Weapon of Pure War has the following random properties:
- 3 minor beneficial properties
- 1 major beneficial property
- 2 minor detrimental properties
- 1 major detrimental property
Adaptive Weapon. Using a bonus action, you can choose to manifest this artifact as any weapon; or any shield, if you have proficiency with shields. If the artifact manifests as a ranged weapon that needs ammunition, the artifact provides infinite ammunition. While the artifact is manifested as a weapon, you have proficiency with it and you can add twice your proficiency bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. In addition, you deal a critical hit when you roll an 18, 19, or 20.
Magic Weapon. The Weapon of Pure War is a magic weapon that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. This weapon also functions as a Sword of Wounding and a Vicious Weapon.
Curse. This weapon is cursed. When you first become attuned to this artifact, choose one specific sentient person that you have met at some point in time. You gain a new flaw: "I am consumed with the thought of murdering (the chosen person) and will stop at nothing to kill them." Once you have killed your chosen person, you must choose another person during your next long rest. You lose this flaw for 24 hours if you completely bathe yourself in blood.
Perfect Shot. Twice per short rest, you can choose to land a critical hit with this weapon before you roll.
Destroying the Weapon of Pure War. The Weapon of Pure War must be brought to Larion: the God of the Moon, the Night Sky, and Tranquility. He is the only person with the right kind of power to destroy the weapon. Larion will take the weapon and instantly obliterate it, turning it into a new star.
