The dark castle grounds, with the infamous moat of glowing fish

This location of Toryu was situated in a town formerly known as Waru. However, after a certain incident, it has become a cursed place. Rumor has it that a certain death resulted in a shiryo, or vengeful spirit. This shiryo caused destruction and death for the inhabitants of Waru. The lord of the town was even forced to step down and his residence was forcibly converted into a temple to appease the shiryo. For a spell of time, this worked. However, the town declined as a result of the upheaval and before long, it was abandoned. The souls of the dead from before were never allowed to leave, instead having become the fish which swim about the waters surrounding the town. On moonlit nights, they surface with glimmering luminescence to tell of their tale. Local towns nearby wholly avoid it for this reason, and the song of woe is often heard for miles.

Campaign Ideas[edit]

Some elders of the nearby towns who know of the history surrounding the castle do feel pity for the princess. Some wish for her to move on and leave the world in peace. More prosperous towns near Waru may be seeking help from adventurers in quelling her spirit. It is said her castle is laden with treasures left behind, which may or may not be cursed. But if a player is greedy, this won't matter much.
