Weapon (Any Slashing Weapon), Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

This weapon was passed down from generation to generation within the family and has found it's way into your hands. Despite how much it's polished or how much it shines, no reflections will appear off of it.

Attunement and Benefits

To attune to the weapon, the user must feed it blood in darkness. When attuned, the weapon's metal will shift between steel (light) and ebony(darkness and dim light) depending on how dark the area around it is and your reflection will be shown to you in both versions of the weapon. Furthermore, the weapon has the following properties:

  • +1 to attack and damage rolls in bright light
  • +3 to attack and damage rolls in dim light or darkness

The weapon becomes unattuned upon the user's death or when the user willingly untunes from the item.

Unwitnessed Crime

This weapon holds a maximum of 9 charges which are recharged by 1d8 + 2 each day at dawn. As long as the weapon has at least one charge, attacks made to hit with it will deal an extra 1d8 Psychic damage.

  • As a bonus action, the user can create a zone of magical darkness in a 15ft radius sphere centered on a point the user can see within 60 feet expending 2 charges. The zone of darkness lasts until the end of the user's next turn. The darkness spreads around corners. A creature with darkvision can’t see through this darkness, and nonmagical light can’t illuminate it. If the point you choose is on an object you are holding or one that isn’t being worn or carried, the darkness emanates from the object and moves with it. Completely covering the source of the darkness with an opaque object, such as a bowl or a helm, blocks the darkness. If any of this spell’s area overlaps with an area of light created by a spell of 2nd level or lower, the spell that created the light is dispelled.
  • As a bonus action, the user can teleport into any shadows or darkness they can see within 30 feet of themselves expending a charge.
