Date[edit]

A date when the deletion was proposed would be nice to add to this (like Template:Wikify, etc). --Green Dragon 21:57, 24 April 2007 (MDT)

Added that. Is there some sort of code I can put in to make it take the date from the server or something? Armond 14:08, 25 April 2007 (MDT)
Not that I know of. You may want to ask Sledged. --Green Dragon 15:47, 25 April 2007 (MDT)
Only by putting five tildes (~~~~~) in the date field, but that gives both the date and time. —Sledged (talk) 10:29, 26 April 2007 (MDT)
Pwnt. Four wikis worth of information ftw. Will run over and apply to other templates. Forgot that it updates itself... Armond 23:23, 26 April 2007 (MDT)
{{subst:CURRENTDAY}} {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} will give the date as static text:
10 May 2007
Sledged (talk) 14:47, 10 May 2007 (MDT)
Updated. Thanks for helping with the template. Also, now all the current uses of this template need to be updated... --Green Dragon 10:30, 11 May 2007 (MDT)
Ooh, I didn't know those could be subst:'d... Thanks. --Armond (talk/contribs) 14:47, 11 May 2007 (MDT)
We forgot something (as an anon was nice enough to point out to me on another wiki - it will subst the date right into the template. I put the date in includeonly tags. Hopefully that'll do the trick. --Armond (talk/contribs) 15:09, 11 May 2007 (MDT)
Ok. This is getting really annoying. Is there any way to get a template to not substitute unless it's included? --Armond (talk/contribs) 15:18, 11 May 2007 (MDT)
For now pass the subst: as the date parameter. Copy/paste will make sure the date is entered. —Sledged (talk) 15:25, 11 May 2007 (MDT)
Anyway, sorry for not checking to see if it worked earlier and I am glad it works now (albeit not really as part of the template). Sorry. --Green Dragon 00:44, 12 May 2007 (MDT)
I got it (finally)! <noinclude></noinclude> tags around the {{subst: . The only problem is that it doesn't work with a normal inclusion for some reason, but it'll still add the page to Category:Candidates for Deletion, which is the important part (right? We check there for deletions instead of using whatlinkshere on this template, don't we?). --Armond (talk/contribs) 15:07, 16 May 2007 (MDT)

←Reverted indentation to one colon

I think we should keep Candidates for Deletion as the main area for deletions... Just my opinion. --Green Dragon 23:31, 16 May 2007 (MDT)
After second thought, it really is just a extra page with no purpose. I made all deletions have to go through this template, and changed the main deletion page to Category:Candidates for Deletion. --Green Dragon 13:34, 8 November 2008 (MST)

Change[edit]

I've added If the above issues are not being addressed within 14 days, this page will be deleted.. As I've realised that it's not actually clear on the template, and there's no easy way for new users to know. This lets people know how long they have, and also reassures our more easily upset editors that they will have ample time to save their article from deletion. --SgtLion (talk) 05:53, 13 November 2017 (MST)

Further to my previous edit, I've swapped the lines 'Need a page deleted immediately?..' and 'If issues aren't being addressed then.. deletion', because especially while we're nowadays almost too on top of CfDs, this is far and away the most pertinent information, and so should probably be most prominently displayed. --SgtLion (talk) 05:22, 25 June 2018 (MDT)
Good, that will work. --Green Dragon (talk) 08:43, 25 June 2018 (MDT)
