Talk:Yautja (4e Race)
From D&D Wiki
I wanted to make a real playable yautja race that would fit in to the 4e game with out being over powered or ruining game play at all so please tell me what you think and if have any questions please ask!
- I update the page with the racial traits template and added categories. You might also be interested in Future (4e Sourcebook). Marasmusine (talk) 00:31, 6 April 2013 (MDT)
I also put in racial paragon can you take a look marasmusine and thank you. also I haven't seen a dnd 4e hunter class.
- Slayer and Hunter are both from the 2010 Essentials books, they both seem more appropriate to me, check them out if you can. 164.38.32.28 04:50, 6 April 2013 (MDT)
this is yautja scar I am still working on this and weapons for yautjas should be ready soon still need to make more weapons and there armor don't use yet.
- Hmm, they're Large now, you know that brings a new set of problems? Marasmusine (talk) 13:07, 14 March 2014 (MDT)
well yeah there large if you do the research there 2.7 meters tall witch is about 8-9 feet tall. I mean if im going to make them I need to make them right know what I mean. so people can make giants and stuff but when I try to make this race nothing is ok lets keep changing other peoples work! ok can I keep them medium at 8'0"-8'8" tall and if so im still changing there racial traits and stuff cuz this stuff is not right for the race.
- The actors that portrayed them in the films were just over 7' tall, 2.2 meters. The AVP wiki gives their height as 7'+. Looking at the Heroclix predator figures, they're about the same size as Goliaths, which are Medium: they don't look like they would occupy 4 squares. As for other races, there are no large 4e races that are currently balanced. Marasmusine (talk) 07:14, 17 March 2014 (MDT)
right but female predators form comics and stuff are larger not smaller than males by a foot so ill leave them based on males to keep them medium but I need to change there racial traits to fit the race from the films also super predators are larger than normal ones from the r.r. predators film. can you help me ajust powers if they are over powered? also no plasma caster or other space tech needs to be made for them so they can fit in the game better but other weapons that are like the ones they use have already been made so they should have a clan proficiency with them I think.
I also added advantures and stuff but they might need some work I have to go to work soon.
- Yes, I was going to ask if this was supposed to be a non-sci-fi version for use in normal D&D. I will do my best to help you balance the powers and traits. It might be tricky to come up with weapons that don't already have a statblock. Marasmusine (talk) 11:08, 17 March 2014 (MDT)
- What you could have are a set of feats that bring out certain fighting styles with particular weapons. Marasmusine (talk) 11:10, 17 March 2014 (MDT)
most of the weapons are already made so I figured a racial weapon proficiency would work but you would probably no if I can do this or not I like the traits and stuff now the way they are so let me know what you think.and I don't even no were to start on racial feats that's not some thing I even thought about yet I work a lot on night shift so I can only use the internet on some days.
- You can make them large if you add Design Disclaimer to this page, of course. --Green Dragon (talk) 11:30, 17 March 2014 (MDT)
no I don't think they should take up 4 squares either but thanks for the help guys finally a playable predator race that wont hurt the game play! I also added there feats and I think the way there are made now with there feat included are fair and are equally respectable to the movies and comics so any who want to play them have fun and enjoy I spent a lot of time to make them playable and equally respectable to the movies!
please do not change or delete any thing!
- Consider making one of their traits into an encounter power, so that they have an encounter power. I've briefly looked at the feats and I think you have the right ideas, I may have some suggestions when I examine them properly. Also look at the class features of their favoured classes and see if there are any interesting race/class feats there. Marasmusine (talk) 11:50, 19 March 2014 (MDT)
- Next up: races do not start with superior weapon proficiencies, let alone five of them. Superior weapons are there to be customized into, so this should be a feat. As I mention at Talk:Elite weapon training (4e Feat), multiclass feats can be used to unlock extra weapon styles and powers. Marasmusine (talk) 03:02, 20 March 2014 (MDT)
what about an invisible encounter power do you think it is fitting to the race and if so can you make it so its done right or do you have another idea for the encounter power also I don't multi class I hybrid so I know nothing about multi class feat I just know they need these weapons because its what they use in the movies so can you work that out to. and what do you mean weapon styles and powers.
- I think invisibility is something to do with their equipment, though? How about a power that accentuates the fact they are hunters?
- Dragon magazine presented a way in which multiclass feats can be used to let a PC specialize in weapons that have non-standard attacks (like a throwing net) Marasmusine (talk) 09:48, 11 January 2015 (MST)
