Geez... while the actual content of this background is fine, the title is atrocious. 2601:285:4100:14B0:A558:758:B5E2:D7ED 08:16, 17 September 2024 (MDT)

Agreed, it should probably be named "Diversity activist (5e background)" or something along those lines. Draelm (talk) 13:13, 17 September 2024 (MDT)

Balancing issues[edit]

I never would have thought that I'd be slapping a needsbalance template on a background, but here we are. Anyway, the idea of the background is good, but the title is not descriptive at all. I feel like the concept would also work perfectly fine without limiting it to elves, so I'd probably switch the mentions to the race to a more generic term, but it is not a big deal.

That being said, I do think the background is a bit too strong. The background gives you three features, all three of which give you adv. on certain ability checks. Additionally, two of them, Avoiding Arrogance and Timeless Perspective, include proficiency in ability checks, which is a big no-no. Persuasion is okay, if redundant, because the background already gives it to you, but proficiency in History makes it so that you get three prof. out of a single background. In my humble opinion, the additional proficiency and at least one of the three features (preferably Timeless Perspective) need to go.

I'm also more inclined towards phrasing background features as something you have experience in, rather than a personality trait, but it is mostly personal preference.

The rest of the background, asides from a couple of formatting errors that I'll fix in a moment, is well done and pretty original, but, again, what is that name? Draelm (talk) 13:13, 17 September 2024 (MDT)
