Why You Don’t See Anything Like It in the Stories!!?[edit]

Unlike the common elves found in tales, full of pride, arrogance, and a constant reminder of their centuries-long lives, you are a stark contrast. You despise the elitist attitudes many of your kin hold, their superiority complex toward other races, and their endless boasting about their ancient heritage. Raised among those who constantly look down on others, you saw the harm and division their mindset caused, leading you to reject it entirely. Now, you strive to be humble, fair, and inclusive, believing that all beings, regardless of race or lifespan, deserve respect and equality. You are the elf that other elves whisper about, the one who dares to walk a different path.

Skill Proficiencies: insight, persuasion

Tool Proficiencies: One artisan's tool of your choice, one musical instrument

Equipment: A simple set of artisan's tools (of your choice), a musical instrument (of your choice), a set of traveler's clothes, a journal where you document customs and cultures of other races, a small pouch containing 10 gold pieces.

Specialization:

Here’s a table with Specializations that could suit this unique elven background. You can use these to reflect different ways the character might have focused their growth or personal development.

d6 Specialization
1 Cultural Envoy. You have dedicated yourself to learning and respecting the customs and traditions of other races. You often act as a mediator between different cultures.
2 Elven Reformer. You actively work to change the views of your people, seeking to dismantle their arrogance and replace it with understanding and humility.
3 Wanderer. You’ve chosen a life of travel, spending little time with your own kind and instead living among diverse races to learn from them.
4 Protector of the Marginalized. You focus on defending those who are oppressed or looked down upon, using your skills to help them stand up against tyranny and prejudice.
5 Linguist. You've mastered several languages in your quest to communicate across cultures, and you use this skill to foster understanding between races.
6 Cultural Archivist. You document the stories, histories, and customs of other races, building a wealth of knowledge that bridges gaps between your people and others.

These specializations give your character more depth by focusing on a particular aspect of their journey toward humility, cultural exchange, or advocacy for equality.

Feature: Anti-Elitism[edit]

You’ve developed a sharp sense for when others are trying to place themselves above others. Whenever someone is using their race, power, or age to belittle others, you gain advantage on insight checks to detect their true intentions and motives.

Avoiding Arrogance[edit]

Your humble demeanor makes you more approachable to non-elves, who appreciate your lack of condescension. You gain proficiency in persuasion, and when dealing with other races, you have advantage on Charisma-based checks that involve building trust or cooperation.

Timeless Perspective[edit]

Though you live longer than most other races, you’ve chosen not to dwell on your age. Instead of flaunting it, you use your experience to better understand others. You have proficiency in history and gain advantage on checks to recall knowledge about other races’ cultures and customs, having spent time learning about and appreciating them rather than dismissing them.

2 Humility. Arrogance is the greatest flaw, and only through humility can we grow. (Neutral)
3 Unity. The strength of the world lies in its diversity, not in one race’s dominance. (Lawful)
4 Justice. Those who use their heritage or power to subjugate others must be challenged. (Chaotic)

d6 Flaw
1 I find it difficult to work with elves who embody the arrogance I’ve grown to despise.
2 I can sometimes be too quick to dismiss my own people, forgetting that some among them may share my values.
3 I often assume that those in power are automatically corrupt or oppressive.
4 I struggle to forgive those who have wronged me, particularly those from my own race.
5 I tend to act recklessly when confronted by the elitism I hate, sometimes making dangerous decisions.
6 My strong beliefs sometimes lead me to stubbornly reject alternative viewpoints, even if they have merit.
