Talk:Werewolf: Half-Wolf (5e Race)

Aside from the fluff problem, there is a lot of strange, non-5e wording for the traits.

  • Canine speech should probably take a leaf out of triton's emissaries trait or firbolg's speech of beasts. The wording as it is now isn't bad, but it could benefit from official standardization
  • Canine senses pretends its not possible to smell for other races. Perception in 5e is assumed to use all five senses since there is no delineation between them. You can make it give advantage on checks using smell, as many canine homebrew races do.
  • Shifting needs more constraints. This is essentially polymorph or wild shape, so it needs the wording to change back, as well as how it affects your statistics, etc. You can check out how the homebrew races like the hengeyokai handle it, or you could take something from the official shapechanging races (changeling, firbolg, etc.)
  • Mind Link DOES NOT HAVE A RANGE. Ghostwise halfling gives 30 feet. It's also overly complicated since you already have an alternate trait to talk to canines. This could be merged with the other trait to cut down on waste and words.
  • Ears of the Wild makes no sense since passive perception is not specific to a sense. It's also quite powerful.

Other than the above, there are also capitalization errors that should be resolved.--Yanied (talk) 20:35, 4 August 2021 (MDT)
