The Little Things[edit]

Just as a quick FYI, normally you only alter 2 Ability scores for Race, and everyone starts with 2 Languages unless they take the Liguistics Feat. -- Sepsis 08:34, 16 September 2008 (MDT)

Oh, darn. You beat me to calling it broken at the moment.--Taritus 13:23, 16 September 2008 (MDT)
Sepsis half-elves start with elven, common, and a choice of one other. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.244.67.69 (talkcontribs) 05:42, 17 September 2008 (MDT). Please sign your posts.
Yes I know they are the exception because that trait is exemplfies how gergarious they are. It just seems like Storm Elves tend to live in groups comprised mostly of Volta, not of another Race. But with that example you can use 3 Languages, I just think there should be a good reasoning for it, besides "they are smarter then the average folk". -- Sepsis 09:09, 17 September 2008 (MDT)

Strange Power[edit]

true sight is IMO very strange. lets see ...

  • it nerves classes that use stances (like the fighter) (since you can't use 2 stances at the same time).
  • its an encounter power that lasts an entire encounter

-Qube

Yeah I realize that now. I removed true sight for good today for reasons such as yours and the overpowering stuff. --Storm Elf5 18:52, 10 May 2009 (MDT)

Elf Issue[edit]

Since the designers have taken an position of "no more multiple variations of a singular race" (ie. aquatic elves, wood elves, elves from space, etc.), the majority of gamers have jumped behind this and have an immediate negative reaction when they see a "<Fill in permutation> Elf" (or Dwarf, Halfling, etc.). To avoid that (and to help insure folks will at least give the race a look) you might want to just give them an original name. You can still have them colloquially referred to as "Storm Elves", and even keep the same physical description, but with an original name it eliminates immediate negative bias. Just a thought. Oh yeah and I also wanted to say that given their physical description, and what little fluff you have, they sound like an interesting race. I would like to see the fluff expanded and learn more about what makes this a cool race.-- Sepsis 18:00, 10 May 2009 (MDT)

OK Sepsis, that will work easily into my race, it may take a few days to get an original name. I recently toned down storm elves by elimiating one of their powers and I wanted to know, is that enough or should it be weakened further and how.
P.S. More fluff coming. --Storm Elf5 18:43, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
Yes it is well balanced power-wise now. Although Electric Strike should probably do "1[W] + Constitution modifier Lightning damage, and the target is Dazed (save ends)". -- Sepsis 06:03, 11 May 2009 (MDT)

Sepsis, I implemented your suggestion on the racial power but I wanted to know what you would think if the Strength(Melee) or Dexterity(Ranged) vs. AC was changed to Constitution vs. AC.

--Storm Elf5 10:40, 11 May 2009 (MDT)

I like it better then the two stat entry, although since Con. is not a "boosted" ability for them it should be "Constitution +2 Vs. AC". Although it should be an Encounter power not a Daily. -- Sepsis 15:36, 11 May 2009 (MDT)
I was thinking of some names, and figured it should reflect their "electric" nature. But after looking at a few terms I came upon Volta (the gentleman who coined the word "Volt"). I was thinking either that or another escoteric electrical term. -- Sepsis 15:44, 11 May 2009 (MDT)
I like Volta but I feel it dosen't fully describe the race in the area of how it is tied to nature... Maybe Volta Chao. --Storm Elf5 16:28, 11 May 2009 (MDT)
I think you should avoid a two part name, it can be confusing. And remeber the name just needs to conjure a quick image (in this case electricity), and hopefully be cool sounding enough to catch a readers attention. -- Sepsis 07:12, 12 May 2009 (MDT)
Implemented--Storm Elf5 16:44, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

Needsbalance[edit]

Can I delete this template? Yes or no? If not what should I do?--Storm Elf5 06:00, 12 May 2009 (MDT)

Just MOI an Admin and tell them to look and explain you have now balanced it. If they agree they will remove the Template -- Sepsis 07:10, 12 May 2009 (MDT)
Sepsis also knows enough about balance, formatting, wording, stubs, and removal of articles to remove and add the related templates. --Green Dragon 10:58, 13 May 2009 (MDT)
Done. -- Sepsis 15:42, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

Type and Subtype[edit]

What are they and what should I put for Volta?--Storm Elf5 10:58, 11 May 2009 (MDT)

"Humanoid" for Type and "Fey" for Subtype. -- Sepsis 15:36, 11 May 2009 (MDT)

The Volta Language[edit]

Is there a way I can make a homebrew language for the Volta? You might have noticed how Grinigard is similar to Grininthar is similar to Grinifai and Grinifarn only with different suffixes. I was hoping to record these for players and myself.--Storm Elf5 11:01, 11 May 2009 (MDT)

I'm not sure how you would post such a thing (maybe as a "racial supplement"). Although I suppose you could create a section within the race for language information. --Sepsis 15:36, 11 May 2009 (MDT)

Confusion[edit]

The physical qualities of this race when the abilities and name are considered. It's a green or orange satyr with lightning powers... Makes no sense. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.13.15.193 (talkcontribs) 09:06, 5 March 2010 (MST). Please sign your posts.
