Talk:Super SMASH BROTHERS!!!!!! (5e Variant Rule)
From D&D Wiki
So here's the question: If, by your own admission, this variant rule is "totally pointless", why would you even post it in the first place? Based Quincy (talk) 20:37, 2 June 2019 (MDT)
- When I first saw this, my fingers reached for the "propose deletion" button, but after reading through it again I wondered how it might actually play. I mean, it's very rough (distances measured in feet rather than 5-foot steps; KO instead of unconscious, etc), but it could be plausible way of conducting a non-lethal arena-type battle with lots of movement. - While I'm not a fan of how this rule is currently written, the idea seems like it could work even in a normal D&D adventure if the party was transported to some outer plane where the rules of reality are fundamentally different.
- The main balance problem I see is that it seems to vastly distort hp. The difference between 1st level and CR 20 seems to narrow a lot with this variant rule, but even then it shouldn't be a huge problem if the DM is considerate of this. - Guy 08:12, 11 June 2019 (MDT)
