Talk:Rusty Nail (5e Class)

From D&D Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Since the tag was removed but other issues remain:

  • The rusty nail equipment itself remains without stats, which is a big issue when you theoretically could select the rusty nail for all your equipment options (for some reason)
  • The dead levels implemented are odd and unnecessary when levels for ASI like 4th level still have features. Those can be moved to the dead ones. Also, I see additional ability scores added to the class table, which makes it feel like there was no idea how to fill in those gaps (14th level)?
  • Because the shadow phase is such a core mechanic and it progresses, you might want to consider adding a proper column to the class table similar to how monks have a column showing damage increases. The usage count is also so weird and unnecessarily so ("1*Every 5 levels you have, +3, per hour"). This should be standardized with how official class features recharge so that it's less burdensome for players to use.

There are probably more issues and I invite anyone to post what they find for addressing.--Yanied (talk) 00:35, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Feedback[edit]

Thank you Yanied. I appreciate your honest feedback, I am sorry for those dead levels and the extra ability score improvement. While making this class I was like… (I should leave about 2 dead levels since if I add more features It might be too strong.) But I can move a feature to a dead level. This is my first Homebrew Class I ever made, I tried to balance it as well.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zonkazing (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Understandable. Classes are difficult, for myself included. In general, for features, levels like 4, 8, 12, 16, and 19 automatically get a feat or ASI, so any other benefits on those levels would be minor. Dead levels can exist, but usually for spellcasters on levels where they gain new spell levels, since those would substitute for a feature.--Yanied (talk) 01:34, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Re:Feedback[edit]

Thank you Yanied for your understandment. I recently just added a link to my homebrew equipment of a rusty nail. I intended it to be like, (which set of choice do you want to sacrifice for your nail). Which is why most equipment options are similar. As for now, I don’t want people to make major edits to my class, I would appreciate any grammar corrections but for now, I just need to take a break due to the whole Superman situation that happened today. Ok break over. - Zonkazing
