Talk:Neko (5e Race)

Hello I just edited this race hopefully you are okay with the new standard it should be playable now

KawaiiSpider - Added darkvision, this homebrew was very balanced (well done) but was slightly worse than an elf, but without the darkvision (which cats have) so I added it.

I'm not in agreement;

This race provides 6 separate racial features (7 with the increased base speed), BEFORE choosing either feral or domesticated.

Granting 2 additional proficiencies

Suggestions:

eliminate 2 features, combine two features (Flexibility and Graceful).

Move the two features to the Subraces... and either lose or reduce the scope of the existing traits for such.

Naturally Graceful. You have advantage on Acrobatics checks for fall damage because you always land on your feet when falling. Sensitive Hearing. You gain proficiency on sound based Perception checks. Darkvision. Within 60 feet, you treat darkness as dim light and dim light as bright light. Languages. Common and undercommon

Cat Nap. (move to domesticated)

You are used to only sleeping in small spurts. You gain the benefit of a long rest once you've taken 8 short rests.

Keen Mind. You can accurately recall anything you have seen or heard within the past months. (unbounded time - how many months?)
Domestication. Your domestication has sharpened your mind and fine tuned your decision making skills. Once per long rest you may declare advantage on any 2 intelligence skill checks

Prowler. (move to feral)

You can attempt to hide even when you are lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, mist, and other natural phenomena.

Feral Mindset. You have a +5 bonus on passive wisdom (perception) checks. {in combination with the other is essentially a feat at first level, and should be moderated}
Strength of the Wilderness. Once per long rest when you are reduced to 0HP but not killed outright you gain advantage on all death saving throws and if you regain consciousness, you start with half of your level in HP instead of 1HP. (rounded up) {Maybe limit that a bit more, so that on a natural 20 they gain the additional HP}

Out of curiosity, when was the Sixth Sense trait added in? I don't remember it being there when I last used the race (aroung Aug. 2017). --173.237.102.207 18:56, 19 January 2019 (MST)

Hmm... this race has changed a lot from when I (173.237.102.207, new IP address after switching services) first saw it. Starting out as a (very slightly weaker) elf reskin, to slowly succumbing to power creep, until finally being retooled into cat dwarves (which is honestly kinda amusing, considering the "elves vs. dwarves" stereotype). Have any of the changes made to it been discussed anywhere, out of curiosity? o.O

Not really, no. I saw the thing was tagged and I work on incomplete or imbalanced races to make them standard so I just picked it up on the side.--Yanied (talk) 20:28, 18 August 2019 (MDT)
If the changes where discussed, it would have to be on this page. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:39, 19 August 2019 (MDT)
