Dragon Reputation[edit]
Currently doing a dragon based campaign and thought this would be a cool prestige class. How does Dragon reputation work? How do you gain or lose reputation.
Is this even possible?[edit]
The only way I can see this working is by having levels in a spellcasting class that allows second level spells and a race/template the provides actual psionic manifestation of second level powers or vice-versa. Is there something I'm missing? Normally prestige classes with such dissonant requirements need two or more previous classes to work, but htis specifically prohibits that. Is it even possible for this class to be obtained by a PC? Or am I just reading it wrong? --Rakankou 01:13, 9 July 2007 (MDT)
- No I don't think its possible, and seeing how this is a dragon blood sorcerer I don't think manifester levels should be a part of it and instead gain + 1 level in existing spellcaster levels. In my opinion, it would just make more sense. Also the knowledge, what knowledge? any? arcana? what? Its somewhat strange, if not completely ridiculous. --Colona 09:08, 20 April (PST)
- Note, I filtered out the most spelling/grammar mistake, but the rest is still untouched. --Colona 10:41, 21 April (PST)
- This class needs to be adopted and fixed. Any takers? --Green Dragon 13:37, 21 April 2008 (MDT)
- Adopted and fixed? In what ways, because I would be happy to do so. --Colona 13:37, 21 April 2008 (PST)
- Wikis are nice because we can always access old versions using the history page. Start editing it. We can always "branch" it if the original author is not happy with the changes. --Aarnott 14:45, 21 April 2008 (MDT)
- A edited as I felt appropriate, removing manifesting altogether, clarifying knowledge, changed the structure of progressions, and added usage of Draconic Heritage Tree. --Colona 19:55, 21 April 2008 (PST)
Is there a point?[edit]
This class seems to be a weakened version of the Dragon Disciple (It even uses the same progression (Saves and BAB) and abilities (Natural armor) structure). Also there isn't enough supporting content to make this class playable, eg. Feats. The class isn't balanced due to high requirements and restrictions. Also d4 hit die?!? --Sabre070 03:33, 22 April 2008 (MDT)
- Thanks for the input, actually I just updated an old one so, if you could give me some specifics to make it better that would be much appreciated! --Colona 11:04, 22 April 2008 (PST)
Add:
- More Draconic Heritage Feats.
- Magical Abilities, depending on dragon ancestry.
- Special ability of dragon type (Spell/Energy Resistance, spell like abilities?)
- A bonus to the spell damage type of the dragon.
- Dragon familiar? or summon dragon.
Change:
- Hit Die, at least d6
- Requirements (Skills)
Just some ideas- As the description says "The descendant uses the power it gains from its ancestor for magic rather then physical fighting.", this I believe means that it should increase the spell strength. --Sabre070 04:11, 23 April 2008 (MDT)
- Nice Ideas, but do you think I should remove the claws/bite damage in order to focus more on spellcasting? Also what skills should I change in requirements? I do really like your ideas, but I'm afraid of OPing it. --Colona 8:58, 23 April 2008 (PST)
Skills
- Knowledge (Arcana): 8 ranks, Concentration: 8 ranks
Claw and bite damage shouldn't get as strong, they should be just showing his/her heritage more.. Maybe:
- Claws - Lvl 2 -d2, Lvl 6 -d4, Lvl 10 -d6
- Bite - Lvl 3 -d2, Lvl 6 -d4
Looking at it again I think hit die should be either d4/d6. It really just needs some sort of magical benefit. It needs to improve on magic without getting too combat powered like the Dragon Disciple. --Sabre070 00:02, 24 April 2008 (MDT)
- Alright I updated it and its looking a lot different, just wondering, but is there a point now? --Colona 14:57 24 April 2008 (PST)
- Yes it is a pretty good class for a sorcerer/wizard to take. Should the energy bonus be dependant on spell level? Just because using Acid Splash over doubles the damage and where as using a higher level spell, eg. Acid Arrow adds an extra half damage. --Sabre070 16:51, 24 April 2008 (MDT)
- I don't think spell level would matter, because 1) doubling acid splash isn't that much damage if you have more powerful spells which also get the same bonus, and 2) its representing your power with acid (or any other energy you have a bonus to) period. So its not really the spell being altered, its you, therefore it balances. --Colona 16:23 24 April 2008 (PST)
- Ok I see, I was just thinking that it wouldn't be much to look forward to in higher levels, but yeah it would be balanced. --Sabre070 17:41, 24 April 2008 (MDT)
Just wanted to point out that with the proper heritage and metamagic feats, you can turn a sphere of ultimate destruction into a breath of double ultimate destruction, complete with 40d6 fire and 40d6 ice damage. Also I put the HD up as 6 because it was missing.
