A Look At This Creature[edit]
Let us take a closer look at this creature and see what is up with it and what could be fixed.
- General. A CR 30 creature's proficiency bonus is +9, not +10. So, all things that Dialga are proficient in should have +9.
- Saving Throws. Is Dialga not proficient in any saving throws? At the minimum I would see Dialga proficient in Strength, Constitution, and Wisdom saving throws with them maybe being proficient in Intelligence and Charisma ones as well.
- Legendary Resistance. Is there a reason this is 6 legendary resistances instead of 3? Almost every high CR creature does have legendary resistances, however they only have 3/anothe example
- Future Sight. This feature could benefit from a change in wording, as it isn't clear what exactly this ability does. In particular though what is meant by "blocking ranged attacks"? Typically you can't block ranged attacks without a specific action to do so, so you could add a reaction similar to the monk's Deflect Missiles feature. Otherwise, something along the lines of "Due to Dialga's ability to see into the future and past, Dialga has advantage on ability checks made to figure out codes or other things that would require time to solve." would work for the 1st part of the Future Sight feature.
- Roar of Time. Roar of Time should be a standalone action and be really strong, as it is a very powerful move of Diala's. Like something similar to Palkia's Spatial Rend except Roar of Time would deal large damage to a single target. Also, completely stopping a creature from doing anything upon being hit is too strong, how does just making the target only able to move, use an action, use a bonus action, or use a reaction next turn sound?
- Hasten/Recession. This feature's wording could be cleaned up, something along the lines of "A creature that is quickened has their movement speed increased by 20 feet speed boost for 1 minute, and those he has chosen to slow have their movement speed decreased by 20 feet for 1 minute." should be good.
Besides those things, there may be other possible additions that could be added to Dialga, but with that I should have covered everything.--Blobby383b (talk) 09:46, 28 January 2020 (MST)
- General. Fixed it! I think...
- Saving Throws. Fixed it!
- Legendary. Actually, that's just a slip-up. The 6 is right above the 3.
- Future Sight. Chalk one up!
- Roar of Time. There, is that better?
- Hasten/Recession. Cleaned it up a bit and I think it actually sounds better.
- I can't think of anything that could be added, I mean, it's all I could think of. Thanks for taking a look, Blobby! --Flamestarter (talk) 16:11, 28 January 2020 (MST)
- Your revision to the Roar of Time feature works as well. I guess the last thing looking through the creature again is the hit point calculations are wrong and/or was the creature meant to be gargantuan instead of huge? If the creature is meant to be huge, its hit die needs to be changed to a d12 but either way the math on hit points is wrong because Dialga's Constitution modifier is +8 not +10. If the creature was meant to be gargantuan though, its hit points would be 610 (33d20 + 264).--Blobby383b (talk) 16:28, 28 January 2020 (MST)
- All done! --Flamestarter (talk) 18:10, 28 January 2020 (MST)
