Talk:Diabolus ex Nihilo (5e Equipment)
We can't copy the text of items from the DMG. I've replaced the text with referrals, but it would be better if you could come up with your own novel ideas. Marasmusine (talk) 01:48, 18 August 2015 (MDT)
diabolical avenger[edit]
The "diabolical avenger" trait is meant to mimic the effects of hell fire weapons (look at MToF's narzugon for reference) Please refrain from altering its effects in an attempt to balance it
- Since when have we kicked balance out the window to uphold source material? The use of the word devils is actually a super niche category compared to the overall term for fiends, which makes more sense. It is also unreasonable to have it apply to undead, which also have false life as constructs do. The capitalization is also incorrect in your edits. Also, please sign your posts here.--Yanied (talk) 11:57, 26 April 2020 (MDT)
I'm confused if source material is irrelevant then what does it matter if effects undead and demons? Also plenty of undead have souls such as vampires, ghost, spectators, wraiths, ect so the idea that undead shouldn't be effected by this unfounded. Also the blade was a made weapon by devils for devils so it makes perfect sense that it would affect every other type of fiend.-Fallenhero36
- Not that it is irrelevant, but there is profound change that undergoes anything mimicking monster abilities passing into the hands of the players. They are usually changed from their original state. And it's not that undead do not have souls, but they have a false life force, which is why soul-eating effects like that of the Jiangshi (5e Race) usually do not affect them and they cannot be targeted by things like healing potions.--Yanied (talk) 18:55, 26 April 2020 (MDT)
Name change[edit]
I propose that we should change the name of of this item from "Ainkurn Sword" to "blade of the Adversary" or "day-star" to avoid copyright issues. I unfortunately don't have the know how on how to change the official name so if admin's could do it that would be greatly appreciated
