Words, Words[edit]

Hey, it's me, the person who made and is working on this class. As is, the class is completely playable, if lacking in variety. Further work most likely won't affect balance in any meaningful way, and as such I will be removing the WIP tag. However, I will still be continuing to work on it. Here's what's planned!

  • A lot more traits. A lot. Variety is the name of the game for this class.
  • More templates, most likely tools and maaaybe structures. Being only able to make armor/creatures/weapons is a bit lame, so some non-combat utility would be nice
  • Subclasses centered around the templates listed above. There's ones for equipment and creatures, so it makes enough sense.

But that's just about it. If you wish to add to the page, please do so, I need all the ideas I can possibly get. If something doesn't make sense, or the balance seems weird, or you have some other question, ask em here. Thanks for reading! --SwankyPants (talk) 12:48, 11 January 2021 (MST)

On second thought, this thing may be relatively done. There’s now ~59 traits if I counted right, and both subclasses are playable(if lacking a few options). I’m deciding against making new templates for now, since I just have no ideas for what to do with em. If someone wants it, you’ll have to add it yourself. Just needs playtesting and all that now.--SwankyPants (talk) 11:16, 26 February 2021 (MST)

Add a few more Worldly Resources, perhaps just up all levels by 1 point. It's a really fun class, but you're very restricted in points. At level 1 you can barely make 1 thing, with 0-2 upgrades depending on what you pick to make. I would also consider adding more Soul Traits, as there aren't any really non-magical soul traits. - --Afghan_Danh (talk) 18:47, 5 September 2021 (CEST)

I'm not too keen on granting more resources, as that, at the cost of 2 Mass, 1 Form, and 2 Soul, you could immediately have +1 plate that grants you a +1 to magic saves, and that's a bit much.
Addendum. Currently, at 2nd level, if you take Tools of War, you could take both an armor set and a weapon if you don't spring for Unyielding Form, and potentially even get Unyielding Form on both items at 3rd level. If I wanted to add more resources, this early game stuff would get scaling even harder, faster.
As for Soul-based traits, being magic based was kinda the entire idea. Same with Blood being more combat stuff, Form being physical, and Mass basically setting a limit on the amount of stuff you can have. Having more traits still isn't a bad idea though. I've basically run out of creative juice on this page, so if you have any ideas, please feel free to post them. --SwankyPants (talk) 11:00, 5 September 2021 (MDT)
I've been looking through the traits, and I just don't understand how you price stuff. Yes I understand now why each thing costs a certain material, however some of the stuff that costs 1 like Comfort Bound and then you have stuff like Stalwart both of these cost 1 point. However no one would pick comfort bound over stalwart, you can say maybe their a different material hence why one of them is stronger than the other. But the problem is, you use 1 of the 2 form materials you have to create the armor, while you have 2 blood ones even after you create the armor. This should be the exact opposite, and the traits should be differently priced. All of the traits cost either 1 or 2 points, and sometimes of several materials. You can easily up some of the 1 costs, and some of the 2 costs and just give the player more points. It allows the player to get RP traits, to not feel like their wasting precious points on something that is not benificial at all.

Yeah, I played awfully fast and loose when pricing stuff out, and some of them might be a little not great, although I don't think adding more resources and upping costs across the board would solve the problem.
What you're suggesting is that, to make some outliers a bit less weird, we need to adjust everything else to bring them up to snuff. However, we could just change the outliers to better fit the rest. Like, for example, changing Comfort Bound to have some other utility besides being able to sleep in it. Would probably need a rename, but I never really liked this one anyways.
I'll try and add stuff to the lamer traits in the following days, but as always, if you have suggestions, shoot. --SwankyPants (talk) 13:14, 6 September 2021 (MDT)
