General Talk[edit]

The skill proficiencies that I had in mind was Insight and Performance. Insight was to allow the cook to read the "customer". Performance was to allow the cook to entertain the "customer". The rest seems OK to me. --209.97.85.48 14:24, 8 October 2016 (MDT)

I take it you're James? I really enjoyed the PDF the first cook background was published in, but I kind of thought of a different flavor for it. Since the feature I thought up interacted with social skills, I made a point of not giving them those skills in order to dissuade manipulative or abusive use of the RPG feature. --Kydo (talk) 15:37, 8 October 2016 (MDT)
I feel we need a little diversity in the skill proficiency selections. How does adding Nature due to having to handle and understand ingredients. Then ,they can pick two.--108.168.105.54 14:02, 10 October 2016 (MDT)
I added nature because an RP feature allows them to feed people for free even in the wilderness, which implies at least some knowledge of foraging and edible plant life. --Kydo (talk) 15:42, 10 October 2016 (MDT)
That sounds like Nature would become a part of the Through The Stomachs feature, where it replaces one of your proficiencies of choice, though I'm unsure if this is against the normality. I've been proofreading my entry paragraph on my own time and adding information as I go, though I'm done with it for now if you want to add anything to the article. --108.168.105.54 02:21, 11 October 2016 (MDT)

Hi, I added a head paragraph for you. --108.168.105.54 13:58, 10 October 2016 (MDT)

No, I'm not James. --209.97.85.48 18:21, 12 October 2016 (MDT)

Foraging and edible plants are covered more by Survival. --209.97.85.48 18:23, 12 October 2016 (MDT)

My mental image of this is a cross between the entertainer background and the guild artisan background. --Redrum 13:55, 22 October 2016 (MDT)

I really like that image. --Kydo (talk) 14:12, 22 October 2016 (MDT)

Is there a way to use this background in a Food Wars campaign?--Redrum 18:13, 14 December 2016 (MST)

Do you mean something like this? --Kydo (talk) 23:53, 15 December 2016 (MST)
Close enough. --Redrum 17:06, 28 December 2016 (MST)
Does anyone like the idea of an infinite cookbook? --Redrum 18:56, 21 March 2018 (MDT)

(This roleplaying feature (Through their stomachs) was modified from one written by blogger, James Introcaso. His work is pretty good, and I recommend you visit his blog. --Kydo (talk) 22:40, 5 October 2016 (MDT))' --Lavie (talk) 15:23, 25 June 2021 (MDT)

Language[edit]

For language, could I suggest "You know two languages of your choice, but your vocabulary with these languages is limited to terms related to recipes, cooking techniques and foodstuffs." Marasmusine (talk) 01:56, 27 January 2022 (MST)

That's a good way to keep it flavorful -b --Yanied (talk) 10:19, 27 January 2022 (MST)

QA Nomination[edit]

Yes check.svg.png — This article became a quality article! 08:42, 5 December 2019 (MST)

Support. I like this idea as a background better than anything else for a PC. It's playable and well thought out, and the writing is good. I see it as a fun thing for characters to have as a hobby or passion.--Yanied (talk) 20:24, 14 October 2019 (MDT)
