Talk:CoffeeLock (5e Optimized Character Build)
From D&D Wiki
Best Race Option[edit]
Hey guys! I'm the creator of the CoffeeLock build. I would recommend you take the Warforged race, as you don't need to sleep as a Warforged. This is especially beneficial if your DM uses the variant exhaustion rule in Xanathar's Guide to Everything, where if you don't take a long rest you gain exhaustion levels. It doesn't give you a very good Charisma boost, but it is still very good. Thanks for looking at my build! --MarshDASavage (talk) 10:55, 2 December 2020 (MST)
Just One Problem[edit]
Looking at Font of Magic’s description...
“You have 2 sorcery points, and you gain more as you reach higher levels, as shown in the Sorcery Points column of the Sorcerer table. You can never have more sorcery points than shown on the table for your level. You regain all spent sorcery points when you finish a long rest.”
Yeah, you’ll only have a maximum of 2 points. Perhaps you could look into Sorcerer 7/Warlock 10 or something, storing an extra 5th level slot. I don’t know much about optimization for 5e. --SwankyPants (talk) 11:05, 2 December 2020 (MST)
- Okay, went ahead and fixed it. I missed that while looking over the sorcerer's Font of Magic description. Hopefully this new edit fixes it! --MarshDASavage (talk) 08:15, 9 February 2021 (MST)
So I have made my own Coffeelock for use in my D&D game (I am the DM; it is a DMPC), and I want to point out that specifically, you can do the following: every time you take a short rest, you regain warlock spell slots, then you can convert those to sorcery points, then again to sorcerer spell slots; there is no limit to sorcerer spell slots specifically stated in the PHB. I think you should specifically state that you can bank the created sorcerer spell slots. Janderion (talk) 15:56, 31 March 2022 (MDT)
