Talk:Caoraa (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
I propose balancing the race in the following way (attribute remains unchanged: musicus 2)
Remove the damage increase of the horns: musicus 1
(Sure footed is fine: musicus 0,5)
change herd mentality to either normal pack tactics or, if too powerful, give advantage on saving throws against fear and charmed if within 30 ft of an ally: musicus 1,5
subrace
(attribute remains: musicus 1)
Deerkin: although the two proficencies seem fine, i would advocate changing it to to extra movement and mask of nature, since i find traits more interesting than skills. Musicus 1. Total: 6,5
Goatkin: replace single minded focus with relentless endurance. Musicus 1. Total: 6,5
Ramkin: Charge seems powerful, but within limits. Musicus 1,5. Total: 6,5
Sheepkin: remove the resistance to bludgeoning damage. Musicus 0,5 Dream magic seems strong, depending on situation. Since it is useless against enemies that don't sleep, i think a musicus of 1 is still fine. Total: 6,5 If you think i miss something that makes the (sub)race more powerful than it seems to me, feel free to bring it up, otherwise i will implement my changes later.
I propose adding dark vision- the animals these are based on are prey animals and would be able to see in the dark to avoid predators!
- Just because it’s based on an animal that doesn’t have the trait means it should have a trait that the animal it’s based on doesn’t have too. --SwankyPants (talk) 17:22, 18 March 2021 (MDT)
It doesn't have to have the trait but it would make sense, or at least in my opinion it would? I really like this race and sub races as a whole, I do, and I like some of the features of them (including the cosmetic things such as the woolly hair). As I said, they are prey animals and when I've checked about some of the animals (such as goats for goatkins), goats can see really well in the dark (and their eyes give a panoramic view, but that would probably be a little too much) XD - 19/03/2021
- Oh, they can see well in the dark. I just kinda figured they didn’t see too well in the dark, at least not darkvision levels of sight. It could be added, if you think it makes enough sense. Probably wouldn’t throw off the balance. --SwankyPants (talk) 14:50, 19 March 2021 (MDT)
