Talk:Call of the Sussura (5e Spell)

This spell runs outside of the 5e saving throw mechanics for spells, the micromanaging necessary to achieve the saving throw DC also runs outside of the 5e design of simplicity, by forcing differently valued saving throws on different creatures, and the saving throws are calculated differently than all other saving throws in the game. Also as a 2nd-level spell it can effect undead of ALL challenge ratings, which is intense and very powerful, as even creatures that save successfully suffer disadvantage. The 1 hour duration and 120 foot radius is massive for its level and effect. It would be better in having a challenge rating cap applied to it, similar as to the Wizard Necromancer capstone, which when you cast as a higher level spell increases. With a reduced duration and range, and adding concentration and a CR cap + incremental, it would still be a valuable spell in any casters arsenal against undead, and be far more suitable for its spell level.--Kahz (talk) 02:25, 9 October 2016 (MDT)

It isn't my spell, but I attempted to balance it according to your suggestions. Even as it is now, I feel like it should be a 3rd level spell... or maybe 4th. — Guy (talk | edits) 12:38, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
