After reading [1] I think this is the most reasonable interpretation of this historical weapon. Marasmusine (talk) 12:02, 6 March 2020 (MST)

Oppose. I can't think on a reason to use this weapon instead of a rapier, while i can have the benefits of a finesse weapon wielding one while still having one free hand. Anastacio (talk) 12:46, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

  • Oppose. — I do believe this is a good adaptation of a bastard sword into 5e. Sadly, I don't believe there is quite enough unique here to justify giving this weapon my support. The weapon does have a niche, but the niche is extremally specific and very short lived (pcs who can't afford a rapier and not using daggers or shortswords as they need bonus action for other things). --Blobby383b (talk) 17:11, 12 December 2021 (MST)
  • Oppose — while I love bastard swords, I don't think there's really "room" for the them in the 5e system. What we stat as a "Shortsword" covers everything from a gladius to an arming sword, which is even implicitly acknowledged in the description. By the same token, what we stat as a "Longsword" covers everything from a true longsword down to a smaller bastard sword, so a bastard sword in 5e would just be a Longsword that I intend to use primarily one-handed. Anything else is just going to end up being a strictly inferior version of an extant weapon. Salasay 07:23, 29 March 2023 (MDT)
  • Oppose — I can't add anything to the conversation without echoing the posts above me. Bastards swords exist in DnD, just say your character is wielding one and that short/longsword you bought will magically become one.Valiant try, though. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vladulenta (talkcontribs) .
