Talk:Axostome (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
So, CK, regeneration is a big no-no for races. You'll have to limit it severely to once a long rest at the very least.--Yanied (talk) 22:22, 2 August 2019 (MDT)
- Thank you, I’ll definitely make that change now that I know. I just based it off of the troll’s regeneration, but if it’s that big of a deal, I’ll make it like a weakened version of Second Wind from the Fighter class if that’s good. —CK (talk) 00:33, 3 August 2019 (EDT)
- Ah, yeah, I figured it was like a troll. Sadly, races cannot have many of the goodies creatures have--Yanied (talk) 23:00, 2 August 2019 (MDT)
- Now that its nerfed down to be more reasonable, more like actual regenerate and less like the fighters class feature you could probably add in another minor trait or two. Use the Triton for comparative balance. —ConcealedLight (talk) 01:06, 3 August 2019 (MDT)
- Thank you for the advice. I’ll make sure to keep that in mind. CK (talk) 08:59, 3 August 2019 (EDT)

Completing this race[edit]
Hey CK, so there was a race similarly based on the axolotl, but it got written off as kinda April Fools. So I'm really glad this will become a normal non-AF race. What do you plan on doing about the lore? Reading the history, I didn't get much of a sense as to where they came from or how they came to be. Were they native somewhere? As for society, how do axostome organize themselves in their habitats? Just some suggestions.--Yanied (talk) 19:48, 3 August 2019 (MDT)
- So my original idea was that they were native to the elemental plane of fire, hence referencing the Salamanders, but due to their once allies’ aggressiveness and, in my head at least, annoyance at their weakness and overall fear, the Salamanders betrayed them and nearly killed off all of the Axostomes. It was by luck, mostly, that these threatened people found a portal to the material plane, and over the decades to centuries of living there, evolved to live in this new world. However, I wanted to somehow make them sort of hermits in a way, based on the fact that axolotls are a critically endangered species, but I went with a sort of PTSD thanks to the Fire Snakes and Salamanders. That was the base I idea I had, so if you want to add to it, go right ahead, any feedback would be great!--CK (talk) 01:38, 4 August 2019 (EDT)
