So now it reduces every type of damage by an ability modifier (say, 4 or 5), all the time. Is this balanced?

Compare it with other damage-reduction features. With the Martial Adept feat you can take the Parry maneuver.

  • It reduces damage by 1d6 + Dexterity modifier.
  • Only against melee attacks
  • It uses up your reaction
  • It uses up a resource (unless you're a battle master, you can parry once, then you need to take a rest).

Arcane form is still overpowered. Marasmusine (talk) 16:58, 30 August 2017 (MDT)

I feel like this makes a lot more sense as a spell. That way it's not permanent and it costs resources. --Turtl3Up (talk) 22:57, 4 September 2017 (MDT)
Like stoneskin?
Would sacrificing a spell slot to gain the benefit a number of rounds equal to the slot lost be good enough to balance this feat? I do like this feat a lot and think it has potential. As for a title, I understand the issue with it but blank on suggestions that follow the guidelines. Hopefully I can add some later. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 08:36, 11 September 2017 (MDT)

Why was this changed from a feat to a spell? It might have had balance issues as a feat, but at least it was unique. Now it's just just budget stoneskin. I don't believe decreasing the duration is enough to justify a difference of two spell levels, either. - Guy 18:52, 8 May 2022 (MDT)
