Talk:Robot (5e Race)

As per the DMG, feats should never be assumed to be a part of the game, nor should they be given as features or traits. If you're modifying how the feat works anyways, it is best to just write out the mechanics. --Kydo (talk) 19:45, 21 September 2016 (MDT)

Taking over Robot[edit]

Please give me some suggestions for what's needed for Robot.

My son likes robots and I thought a cool robot would be great to have in his game.

Concerns[edit]

Two things:

  • The AC calculation trait makes me pause. So you can add your PB (max 6) to your AC? For free? And that's on top of shields and armor. And you have an AC floor of 10 + your con mod while unarmored?
  • The manufacture trait states you can regain raw materials consumed at the end of your long rest? How does that work? It also doesn't actually state that anything was consumed to make the items, just the cost. It also states the item to be something common, worth less than 1 gp... I think it would make more sense to be given a list of possibilities, since it's not really clear if you can manufacture something like, say, a lump of coal, which is a raw material as it is.--Yanied (talk) 18:52, 5 September 2024 (MDT)
I don't like anon's addition of PB AC either. The "AC floor" itself seems pretty mild to me and enables a "clunky tanky" robot to be viable without forcing it or being terribly strong.
That take on manufacture utterly baffles me. The short answer is yes, because it's a rather underpowered trait meant to reward creativity and imagination; a robot regains the ability to use it as much as someone could a spell or a rage, but with the barest hint of flavor.
Anyway I'm unwatching the page so good luck - Guy 22:27, 5 September 2024 (MDT)
