Tablet of Exponential Growth and Decay (5e Equipment)

Wondrous item, rare (minor) This strange Tablet can be used only once and then requires a long rest but can be cast as a bonus action at anytime and it effects spells or weapon attacks of one ally/self can deal exponential damage where Damage+(Y=X^2), where X is equal to a 1d10 roll. The Tablet can also effect an enemy spell or the effect can be reduced to trivial numbers via Y=X^(1/2){The Square Root} but this can only effect one target. So if a Wizard casts fireball on a horde of ghouls lead by one Formorian and they activate this Tablet as a bonus action, to effect the Formorian, all the Ghouls in 20 foot radius take 20 fire damage and the Formorian takes 20 fire damage and 100 extra fire damage from the Tablet of Exponential Growth and Decay because the wizard rolled a 10 on the X and then X was squared. One the other hand a Wizard using this Tablet can simply effect the damage of Meteor Shower cast by an enemy Arch-Magi which would deal 144 but reduce the damage all the way down to 12 fire damage because of the Square Root of 144. |
