Sun-Touched Weapon
5th-level Transmutation
Casting time: 10 minutes
Range: Touch
Components: V, M (a non-magical melee weapon with gold inlays worth at least 25 gp and direct exposure to sunlight)
Duration: 20 charges (hours)

You imbue the melee weapon used as the material component in this spell with sunlight. The weapon is considered magical and invested with 20 charges, the spell end when all charges are expended.

  • Sun’s Light: The weapon automatically expends 1 charge to emits bright light for 30 feet and dim light for a further 30 feet for 1 hour. This light is sunlight. The radius of the bright light and dim light the weapon gives off decreases to 15 feet at 4 unused charges or less, 10 feet at 2 unused charges and 5 feet at 1 unused charge left.
  • Sun’s Valour: Melee weapon attacks made with this weapon will deal an extra 1d8 radiant damage on a hit, an undead will take an extra 2d8 radiant damage. 1 charge will be expended will every hit.
  • Sun’s Glory: As long as there is 4 unused charges of sunlight or more left in the weapon, you can use an action to instantly release 4 charges worth of sunlight. All creatures within a 30-foot radius besides the wielder that can see the weapon must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 4d4 radiant damage and it is blinded until the end of its next turn, undead take double damage and are blinded regardless of any immunities they may have. On a success, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't blinded, undead take normal damage.

If you cast this spell on a weapon that has already has this spell active on it, then the new spells duration is be added to the active spells duration.

You can use a bonus action to determine the remaining charges within the weapon.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the duration increases to 50 charges (2 days). At 7th level or higher, the radiant damage dealt on a hit becomes 2d8 and Sun’s Glory deals 8d4 radiant damage and the duration is 100 charges (4 days). At 8th level, the duration is 220 charges (9 days). At 9th level, the duration is 500 charges (21 days).
