Subtle Lute Strings (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement by a bard)

This set of gold lute strings constantly hum with soft, barely audible notes. The strings can be attached to almost any lute giving it the following benefits.
You gain a +1 bonus to your spell save DC.
When you cast a spell that deals psychic damage and requires a target to make a saving throw you can choose to give the target disadvantage on that saving throw at the cost of dealing half as much damage on a failed save, or one-quarter as much damage on a successful one. You can also give the target advantage on its saving throw causing you to deal twice as much damage on a failed save. A creature that succeeds on its saving throw still takes only half as much damage.
Once you use this property of the lute strings, you cannot do so again until the next dawn.
