Armor (shield), legendary (requires attunement)

The Steadfast Hold is a slightly curved tower shield of a deep red wood, with a golden rune engraved trim. While holding this shield, you have a +4 bonus to your AC.

These shields were forged in the distant past by a blacksmith and mage couple with a strong sense of dedication. The means through which they were created have long been lost, and only the originals remain.

Bulwark: The wielder of this shield may slam it into the ground as a reaction to an incoming ranged attack, summoning forth a wall of glowing green energy extending 10ft to the left, right, and top of the shield, the attacker must make a DC 17 Dexterity save for ranged weapon attacks or a Intelligence save for ranged spell attacks. On a failure, their attack dissipates harmlessly against the shield, on a critical failure, their attack is reflected back at them with an additional 1d8 radiant or necrotic damage, based on the alignment of the shield's wielder. This effect may be used 3 times, and this shield regains all expended uses at dawn.

Loyal: Each Steadfast Hold shield is bound to it's original attuner until the day that they die, and will become a mundane seeming shield until it comes into the possession of another individual with a cause to which they are dedicated. That cause can be a faction, a quest, or even a lover, so long as that person remains true to their chosen cause, the Steadfast Hold will remain unbreaking and always find it's way back to them should it be lost. --
