Snowman Incubator (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous Item, very rare The object is a crudely constructed snowman standing up to about 6 feet in height. It has two twig arms coming out of its middle section, two coal eyes and a carrot nose. The snowman will not melt when introduced to heat. It will suddenly appear in snowy areas usually on the outskirts of a small village or settlement. If no humanoid has come into contact with the snowman, it will reappear in a new location closer to the town, even getting as far as appearing before a person's window. The origins of these snowmen are as of yet unknown. When a humanoid comes into contact with the snowman, they must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw. On a success, nothing will happen and they must repeat the saving throw if the come into contact with the snowman again. On a failure, the snowman will cause a transformation within the person. This transformation is capable of restructuring the skeletal system alongside controlling organ and cell functions to distort the host’s body to appear as a featureless snowman. The transformation has been noted to be extremely painful to those affected. The transformation takes about 3 days. During this period of time, the effects can be lifted with a Greater Restoration spell, returning the subject back to normal in 1d4 days.
Once the transformation is complete, you will be visually identical to a typical snowman. The only way to return you to normal post transformation is with a wish spell. Your body will be host to about (1d6 +2) white, spherical eggs. Over the next 1d4 days, your form will serve as a frozen incubator for these eggs. Upon hatching, you will produce a series of Young Snow Spiders equal to the amount of eggs present within you. Upon the eggs hatching, your body is subject to melting and destruction through other means and does not gain the properties of the snowman that transformed it. |
