Sneaking Peeper (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, very rare A Tiny metallic device consisting of a brownish-black glass eye, supported by eight spidery clockwork legs. The sneaking peeper is stored inside a hexagonal box with a hinged lid, approximately two inches across and three inches tall. On the underside of the lid is a mirror. Sneaking. The sneaking peeper can be removed from the box and given one simple command or string of commands to follow such as "Go down the hall, turn left at the T, and go through the first doorway on the right" or "Climb into that open window on the second floor." The sneaking peeper will do its best to follow the command(s) while staying safe and hidden from sight. Once the commands are completed, or if they are incompletable (eg. there is no doorway on the right, or the window is closed before it can be reached), the sneaking peeper instinctively climbs to the highest place in the room where it can see as much of the surrounding area as possible. Peeping. While activated, the sneaking peeper transmits all it sees back to the mirror on the underside of the box lid. It will transmit continuously until returned to its box or destroyed. The transmission is visual only. Self-Preservation. For the first hour after activation, the sneaking peeper has the ability to react to immediate physical threats (fire, raptors, a rolled-up newspaper) by running away. Once the threat is gone, it will again climb to a high place where it can see the as much of the surrounding area as possible. After an hour, the sneaking peeper will continue to transmit what it sees, but can no longer move on its own. Spider-like Qualities. The sneaking peeper appears to be a spider unless examined closely, and otherwise has the statistics of a spider, minus the "Bite" action. |
