Smother Rug (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, uncommon When placed on the ground, this 6-foot by 4-foot wool rug appears to be a normal rug. It's true nature can be revealed by a DC 17 Intelligence (Arcana) check. A passive Perception or Wisdom (Perception) check of 20 or higher reveals magical writing around the border of the rug. Noticing this writing gives advantage on the Intelligence (Arcana) check. When the command word is spoken, the rug will wrap itself around the first Medium or smaller creature that walks onto it, leaving their head exposed. A creature with no discernible head is completely enveloped. You can also throw the rug up to 15 feet at a Medium or smaller creature and speak the command word. The creature must succeed a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or the rug wraps around it in the same manner. A creature trapped by the rug is restrained and cannot use any limbs other than its head and any limbs on its head (e.g. a Mind Flayer's tentacles). On its turn, a creature trapped by the rug can use its action to make a DC 15 Strength check to free themselves. Another creature can use its action on its turn to assist the trapped creature, giving it advantage on its next attempt. Speaking the command word a second time deactivates the rug, whether it is unfurled or holding a creature, causing it to act like a normal rug until reactivated. |
