Skip Box (5e Equipment)
Wondrous item, rare (major) Made of polished granite, this dark grey box, 2 inches on a side and 1 inch tall, has a timepiece (either a sundial or a clock) set in the top side. The numbers 1 through 12 are spaced around the edges of the timepiece in ascending order clockwise. When held up to the ear, a faint clicking noise can be heard. The box has 12 charges, and regains 1 expended charge at the start of every hour. You can use your action to twist the timepiece counterclockwise 30 degrees, expending 1 of its charges. You, and everything you are wearing or carrying, cease to exist until the end of your next turn. You reappear in the space you left, shoving any creatures in the space out of your space. You can twist the timepiece further when you use your action to do so, expending 1 additional charge for every 30 degrees you twist it and extending the duration of the effect by another round per additional charge expended. Alternatively, you can use a reaction while holding the box to twist the dial no more than 30 degrees and expend 1 charge when you are hit by an attack roll or when you fail a saving throw, causing the attack to miss you or for you to succeed on the saving throw as you cease to exist until the end of your next turn. Once you use the box in either way, you cannot use it again until the start of your turn after you reappear. If you are affected by a spell or effect when you use the box, the duration of that spell or effect is suspended if it doesn't require concentration. If the spell or effect requires concentration, the effects of the spell or effect end for you. Any spell you are concentrating on also ends. When you expend the box's last charge, roll a d20. On a 16-20, the timepiece twists itself back to the "1" and regains 1 charge. On a 2-15, it stops regaining charges until noon the next day, at which point it regains 1 charge. On a 1, it becomes a nonmagical box permanently. |
