Sheath of Sharpening (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous Item, common (+1), uncommon (+2), rare (+3), very rare (+4), legendary (+5) This robust sword scabbard automatically resizes to fit any sword sheathed in it. Once it has been stored in the sheath for at least 1 minute, a blade pulled from the sheath becomes supernaturally honed, dealing additional damage equal to the sheath's rarity. A sword benefits from this additional damage for 1 minute before it must be sheathed again. Curse. Pulling a sword from the sheath creates a loud sound audible up to 30 feet away, making it impossible to draw a blade stealthily under normal conditions. A remove curse spell suppresses this effect for 8 hours. Additionally, swords pulled from the sheath suffer accelerated wear and tear. Once a sword has benefited from the sheath's bonus 10 times, it suffers a cumulative -1 penalty to attack and damage rolls made with it. A sword that reaches a penalty of -5 loses the penalty and becomes a dagger that can no longer fit into the sheath. |
