Shalarin providers make up the 70% of shalarin society. Most of these are "Li'sha'larin", making up 68% of shalarin society. Most of these members are of the worker sub-caste, and undertake any task without a sub-caste dedicated, such as farming, forging, or tending the hatchery. In this way, shalarin workers have the most freedom of any caste within their empire of As'arem.

Roughly 24% of the "Li'sha'larin", or 16% of the full population, hatch with flat fins that are not supported by cartilage. As the rising of one's dorsal fin is considered to be the signifier of adulthood, the members of this servant sub-caste are never considered full adults. Instead, they directly serve the rulers they are born under as anything from maids to emissaries.

Variant: Shalarin Ruler[edit]

The remaining 2% of the provider caste is the ruler sub-caste; the "Ri'sha'larin" denoted by their white-speckled fins. A ruler's rank is denoted by their bracers: coral-wristed Golmars rule a city within the kingdom they are born into, gold-wristed Finars are chosen by the Golmars to rule the kingdom, and the platinum-wristed Eadar is chosen by the Finars of each kingdom to lead the empire of As'arem. When no governmental position is open, a ruler is free to pursue any work of their choice, allowing them even more freedom than even the worker sub-caste until a Golmar dies.
Ri'sha'larin have a Strength and Constitution score of 10 (+0) and a Charisma score of 12 (+1), is proficient in Insight (+1) and Persuasion (+3), and gains the following feature:

Innate Spellcasting. The shalarin ruler's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 11). The shalarin ruler can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: guidance
1/day each: silent image, tongues
