Focusing your power into the obsidian chunk you use for this spell you warp, contort and reshape the shadows around you and gift to them a semblance of sentience if for a short time. You create 4 Shadows (Monster Manual PG:269) in and unoccupied space within 60ft of you that is in Dim Light. The Shadows are friendly to you and your companions they cannot speak but can hear. They obey your commands to the best of their ability. You maintain a telepathic link with the summoned creatures as long as you are on the same plane of existence OR one or both of you are in The Shadowfell. They can convey thoughts and ideas to you and you can command them through this link. As an action on your turn you may perceive through the eyes of one of the Shadows, you are considered blind to your own surroundings while doing this. The creatures are under your control for 24 hours, after which they stop obeying you commands and cease to exist after 1 hour. To maintain the control of the creatures for another 24 hours, you must cast this spell again minus the material component before the current 24-hour period ends. This use of the spell reasserts your control over up to four creatures you have created with this spell, rather than creating a new ones.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher you may animate or reassert control over 2 additional shadows
